Bucks with a huge coup

Milwaukee Bucks just agreed to terms with Bobby Simmons. This is a huge deal. He was the 5th best free-agent SG this off-season, and a back-up plan to a lot of teams that were unable to get one of the top 4 free-agent shooting guards that were available (Michael Redd, Ray Allen, Larry Hughes, Joe Johnson). Not to mention the most improved player of the year. The Sports Guy just did a piece ("Simmons on Simmons") on Bobby on his sportsblog.

I guess I need to re-do my 2005-2006 Milwaukee Bucks roster to account for the transaction. Well, here is my best:

PG - T.J. Ford - 5' 11" 162 lbs. - 22 years
SG - Michael Redd - 6' 6" 214 lbs. - 26 years
SF - Desmond Mason - 6' 5" 222 lbs. - 27 years
PF - Joe Smith - 6' 10" 225 lbs. - 29 years
C - Andrew Bogut - 7' 0" 245 lbs. - 20 years

Bench:

SF - Bobby Simmons - 6' 6" 228 lbs. - 25 years
C - Dan Gadzuric - 6' 11" 240 lbs. - 27 years
PG - Mo Williams - 6' 1" 189 lbs. - 22 years
SG - Jiri Welsch - 6' 7" 207 lbs. - 25 years
SF - Ersan Ilyasova - 6' 9" 235 lbs. - 18 years
PF - Zaza Pachulia - 6' 11" 265 lbs. - 21 years

On the Bubble:

SF - Toni Kukoc - 6' 11" 235 lbs. - 36 years
PG - Reece Gaines - 6' 6" 205 lbs. - 24 years

This signing leads me to believe that Toni Kukoc may no longer be within the Bucks plans. Simmons and Kukoc both play the same position, and GM Harris did not mention Kukoc in his interview about whom else they are going to attempt to sign or re-sign.

That being said, I think it is a HUGE move for the Bucks, and Simmons will fill the role that the Bucks have always longed for since moving Michael Redd to the starting line-up: a legitimate threat off from the bench.
